| As an advanced transportation mode, drop-and-pull transport systems has been seen everywhere around the world. Entering into21st century, the domestic road transport industry develops rapidly. Meanwhile, energy saving and emission reduction policy and ever-increasing transportation cost have piled up the pressure on this industry. In2009, The State Council stated clearly in a file on reforming and boosting the logistics industry that developing drop-and-pull transport systems is significantly vital for promoting energy saving and emission reduction, protecting environment, lowering logistics’cost, pushing forward the modern logistics and developing comprehensive transportation. In2010, the Ministry of Transport started a pioneering job on operating the drop-and-pull transport systems. It specified dozens of cargo transportation companies and logistics enterprises all over the country as the pioneers. In Zhejiang province, Ningbo city, as one of these pioneers, started performing the drop-and-pull transport systems after2010. Many logistics enterprises have built a lot of transportation routes and made joint efforts to form a complete container drop-and-pull network. As the deployment of the pioneering job, each enterprise’s business booms greatly. The economic and social benefit gradually flows in.In this study, the developing history of domestic and overseas drop-and-pull transport systems was summed up in detail. Through careful research activities in Ningbo, the related materials and first-hand data on drop-and-pull transport systems were collected and organized. This valuable information was fairly analyzed and discussed. A detailed research was done by adopting SWOT method to address the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The result, which gave out the effective measures and optimizing strategies for Ningbo’s drop-and-pull transport systems’development, discussed several potential directions for drop-and-pull transportation in the near future. |
