Research On The Competitiveness Of China Construstion Bank

In recent years, as our China’s reform is developing increasingly, the fourState-owned commercial banks have also come into the market completely, at the sametime, the national joint-stock commercial banks and city commercial banks have beenexpanding, as well as the Bank of China has been open to all the foreign banks since2006, Chinese banking industry has entered the age of fragmentation. What’s more,for further deepening the financial reform and perfecting the market economy, thegovernment is going to issue a series of reforming policies for interest rate liberalizationand deposit insurance system, which is a chance and challenge for the banking industry.In this context, as a major State-owned commercial bank, China Construction Bank,although has made some success during the past years, in face of so much competitionand pressure, there will not be obvious advantages on policies, shares and so on inChina Construction Bank any longer. Then how to seize the opportunities, meet thechallenges, and improve its competitive strength is not only related to its own survivaland development, but can also provide useful references for the financial system reformin our China.This paper is divided into five parts. In the first part, the background and thesignificance of this paper is briefly outlined, as well as the research literature about thebanks’ competitiveness at home and abroad is also teased. The theoretical analysis ofthe competitiveness of the commercial banks is in the second part, which is both thebeginning part for the analysis and the theoretical basis of this paper. The third part is onthe construction of the competitiveness indicators for the commercial banks, which ismainly based on the previous studies, considerably relayed on its results in order todetermine the measuring indicator system of commercial banks’ competitiveness. Thecompetitiveness of China Construction Bank is analyzed in the fourth part. It is thefocus part of this paper. It makes its points on the commercial banks indicator system to analyze China Construction Bank detailed, and with the help of SWOT analysis method,a more comprehensive understanding and summary on the competitiveness of ChinaConstruction Bank has been made in general. And in Part Five, according to the SWOTanalysis of China Construction Bank, the solutions and suggestions for its improvementare provided, for eliminating the “bottlenecks” on its path of development andincreasing its competitiveness.
