| This study is about international competitiveness of aviation logistics industry in Chinese airports. China that has shown a continuous growth in its economy, in year 2013 currently has placed in the second highest for its GDP just behind United States and the first largest trading country in the world, as surpassing United States. The logistic industry in China, which is one of major accompanying industries, has also immensely developed. So, there is a high hope for air-freight growth potential of China.Since air-cargo in East Asia plays a role of a bridge that connects between Europe and North America. So there is a great expectation and emphasis on its development. Main countries in East Asia, such as China, Korea, and Japan, have a great influence. And they especially predict that China will be a centre of air-cargo service in East Asia. Therefore, this study tries to understand how much international competitiveness Chinese airports have for aviation freight service at this point by comparing major international airports in China and major international airports in East Asia.In order to apply AHP analysis model in this research, there are determinant factors of Service competitiveness, Demand competitiveness, Spatial competitiveness, and Facility competitiveness. In addition, each determinant factor has more detailed sub factors, called as structural elements. Those factors that influence whole competitiveness are applied into AHP analysis model so that one can find out weighted value based on importance, and compare each airport’s general competitiveness as a numerical value by substituting figures of survey result according to its importance. The first step would be an analysis of aviation logistics market in China and East Asia. The next is to select the most competitive airports among Chinese international airports and the airports that have the most potential. The final step is to find out international competitiveness of air-cargo service in Chinese airports by comparing selected Chinese airport to major international airports in East Asian countries.Through the research and analysis, this paper finds that Chengdu airport (CTU) and Chongqing airport (CKG) recently show remarkable growth in China. Also, Shanghai Pudong airport (PVG), which has the strongest international competitiveness of aviation logistics in China, is ranked as 4th competitive airport of aviation logistic in East Asia. And it is just behind Singapore airport (SIN), Incheon airport (ICN), and Hong Kong airport (HKG). Facility and Spatial competitiveness of PVG is relatively higher, but demand and service competitiveness are slightly weaker than other competitors of this research in East Asia. And in comparison with the research result in year 2003 and 2008, most international airports of China are sharply improving their competitive advantages in aviation logistics field, especially PVG, CTU and CKG. |
