In 1930s, Shanghai was the center of financial and insurance in China. Shanghai Insurance Association had actually become the national status of Chinese insurance industry organization. It had united and led the Chinese insurance companies to get a place on the old Chinese insurance market which was monopolized by the foreign companies. It rose and fell together with the Chinese insurance industry.In this paper, in addition to "Introduction" and "Conclusion" is divided into five chapters. The first chapter starts from the beginning of the development of Chinese insurance industry to find a development path of Chinese insurance industry before 1937. Then the first chapter talks about the birth of Shanghai insurance industry groups. It clarifies and discussed the reason of its previous restructuring of the reform history. Try to grasp the industry and social factors which affect the changes. Especially after Hu Yongqi came to power in 1935, the reform of the Association came into the most enterprising era. The firs Chapter combined with the development of the era, the environment of finance and insurance industry as well as government policies and analysis of opportunities and effectiveness of reforms. Chapter Ⅱ, Chapter Ⅲ discusses the intricate relationship between the Shanghai Insurance Association with the insurance brokers, insurance industry, members of the Association and Banking. The formulation and implementation of fire brokers registered and management rules reflects the Association’s leadership of Broker. Unifying the policy and promoting the knowledge of insurance reflects the Association’s norms. Reinsurance Association reflects the cohesion of member companies. Development of modern "Banc assurance" integration under the Chinese Association and the insurance industry is reflected from the investment and personnel and business exchanges. The fourth chapter from the perspective of the war, examines the response to Shanghai Insurance Association. War harms the insurance industry greatly, and improper handling will cause mass claims disputes. At this time the leadership of the Association for the whole industry was more efficient than a single insurance company. Association was quick to respond correctly and effectively, directly related to the rise and fall of the industry. Chapter V tells the importance of the relationship among the association, government, foreign association and the other area insurance associations. Then, concludes its contribution to the development of Chinese insurance industry.There are many factors affect the development of the Chinese Insurance, including political, economic and social. The association made a distinctive contribution and it also reflects the development of the Chinese insurance industry from the other side.
