In order to face the global energy crisis and environmental pollution, the exploitation and utilization of biomass energy has been promoted in worldwide, especially forest biomass energy. This paper analyzed the formation mechanism and the existing development pattern of forest biomass energy industry chain from the perspective of industrial chain. Then based on the Potter diamond theory and LBCT theory, this essay used the structural equation modeling to explore the influence of external driving forces of forest biomass energy industry chain. The results show that:the extension of forest biomass energy industry chain is affected by internal and external driving forces, which industrial policy, technology, resource factor, ability of investment and enterprise technology innovation capacity are played as the main factors. In some extent, the regional environment load have positive effect on the extension of industry chain while the pulling effect of industrial demand and the impact of enterprise management control are still not prominent and non-significant. On the basis of in-depth analysis of the external driving force of forest biomass energy industry chain, proposes a corresponding policy recommendations in order to promote the development of the industry.
