Researching On Urbanization, Industrialit On And Economic Growth In The Three Gorges Researvoir

So far, The Three Gorges Project is still the largest water project in the world. This successful project is benefit to flood protection, power generation and shipping transportation, yet it also causes poverty problems. The development of industrialization can promote the upgrading of industrial structure, and by the aggregation effect,the urbanization can bring about scale economy to promote urban-rural integration. To ensure sound and rapid economic development of The Three Gorges, it is necessary to make a process in the urbanization and industrialization construction.In order to know whether it can form a cycle of mutual advancement effect among the urbanization, industrialization and economic growth of The Three Gorges in the period from 2003 to 2013, 26 counties were divided into three parts, and then the paper described their current situation, and used the PVAR model and the method such as GMM estimate, impulse response and variance decomposition to study the interaction among them.The GMM estimate results show that: at the head of The Three Gorges, the dynamic response of industrialization to economic growth dropped from 0.1980 in the first phase to 0.0476 in the second phase, the dynamic response of economic growth to urbanization is 0.0475 in the first phase, the dynamic response of urbanization to industrialization is-0.3723 in the second phase; At the abdomen of The Three Gorges, the dynamic response of industrialization, urbanization to economic growth are respectively 0.0748 and 0.1713 in the first phase while the dynamic response of urbanization to industrialization is 0.7226 in the second phase; At the tail of The Three Gorges, the dynamic response of industrialization to economic growth is-0.1238 in the first phase while the dynamic response of urbanization on industrialization dropped from 0.07533 in the first phase to-0.0723 in the second phase. The impulse response results show that: at the head of The Three Gorges, the shock between the urbanization and industrialization is positive. In addition, the shock of economic growth to urbanization and industrialization is positive and vice versa; At the abdomen of The Three Gorges, it shows negative impact in the short term between the urbanization and industrialization. At the tail of The Three Gorges, economic growth has inhibiting effect on industrialization, and industrialization also has inhibiting effect on urbanization in the short term. The variance decomposition results show that: At the head of The Three Gorges, influenced by urbanization and industrialization, the economic growth will promote industrial development, and the contribution of urbanization to industrialization is so weak. At the abdomen of The Three Gorges, industrialization is almost driven by itself. In the short term, there is only 3% interaction between urbanization and industrialization. At the tail of The Three Gorges, the driving force from economic growth, industrialization to industrialization is small, and there is only 1% interaction between economic growth and industrialization while the stimulating effect from urbanization to economic growth is about 34%, urbanization can promote economic growth. So, it can be concluded that: at the head of The Three Gorges, it can form a bicycle mechanism in a short time, but this mechanism can’t last for a long time. At the abdomen of The Three Gorges, because the industrialization and urbanization are uncoordinated, this area can’t form a virtuous circle. At the tail of The Three Gorges, the industrialization can promote urbanization, and further stimulate the economic growth to form a cyclical effect.With a view to the actual situation in The Three Gorges, we think that, during the process of building dam and immigrant, the problem about compensating the land own by the rural residents, placement the moving immigrant and how to fill the industry empty results to the lagging economy in The Three Gorges.
