| As the foundation of the economy, industry has been catching more and more concern. The industrial structure has become an important factor affecting the growth of the economy. At the same time, economic growth in turn affects the growth of the industry and its structure. They are sharing mutual promotion and common development. However, the economy is a huge system and it is biased to think the total GDP growth as economic growth, since GDP just reflects the growth in terms of the number. In today’s society, people are no longer concerned only with the quantity in the economic growth, quality is gradually being more attention. With the deepening of China’s economic reform, many scholars have carried out some useful exploration of China’s industrial structure.But they only examined the impact from the change in industrial structure to GDP growth in general. Few empirical studies combined with the quality and quantity in economy growth to reflect the economy growth.On the basis of current research results, this article takes Fuling District of Chongqing as the study area and the internal structure of the industry as the breakthrough point. Meanwhile, a variety of research methods were used, such as indicator approach, empirical analysis approach and other research methods. What is more, this article takes empirical analysis on the quantity and quality of economic growth from industrial sectors in Fuling District, trying to find for the optimal development direction in adjusting the industrial structure, in order to advance the economy to sustain rapid growth.First of all, this article analysis the character on the evolution of industrial structure and economic growth process of Fuling District by horizontal contrast (contrast with Chongqing Three Gorges Reservoir Area and Chongqing) and vertical contrast (contrast with the historical development).It was found that during the study period, the speed of industrial structure change in the direction of specialization in Fuling is faster than Chongqing and the trend of the industrial structure change toward specialization is more obvious.What is more, industrial structure is showing more and more the characteristics of the secondary industry in Fuling and employment contradiction of industrial structure has improved year by year. Then, followed by building a statistical model, and carrying stationary test, co-integration test, linear test, doing principal component regression, the article can get the contribution of the growth in various industrial sectors to the economic growth in the number and quality aspects. Eventually, it was found that the regional leading industries have made great contributions to the quantity of economic growth, but some of them little or even negative to the quality of economic growth, such as agro-food processing industry, which failed to drive the enhancement of social welfare higher. Non-ferrous metal smelting, rolling processing industry, pharmaceutical manufacturing, chemical raw materials, chemical products manufacturing industry and cement manufacturing are making serious pollution to the regional environmental, which is telling that a higher level of requirements for future industrial development is necessary. This article revealing the relationship between various industrial sectors and economic growth in Fuling District provides quantitative study support and reference views to making industial development decision for Fuling District and Chongqing Three Gorges Reservoir Area, especially for other districts enjoying strong industrial development in the reservoir area. |
