In recent years, with the rapid development of our economy and the speed up of industrialization and urbanization process, the energy demand is growing excessively, meantime, energy supply is relatively insufficient, and energy efficiency is low, which cause the ecological environment problem. Energy problem has become an important restriction factor for China’s economic and social sustainable development. China’s 12th five-year plan outline continues to put the energy conservation and emissions reduction as constraint index of national economic and social development, and to strengthen energy conservation priority strategy, implement the dual control of total energy consumption and energy consumption intensity. The outline also puts forward the national energy consumption per unit GDP in 2015 16% lower than in 2010, the total discharge of major pollutants reduce by 8% to 10%, which highlights the government’s determination in the energy conservation and emissions reduction. The target of energy management and reducing energy consumption has been carried out layer upon layer in various places and enterprises.BS carbon plant is a national large chemical enterprises, which is specialized in graphite electrode. The production process and characteristics of carbon industry determine the enterprise of graphite electrode production is typical type of energy consumption. BS carbon plant consumes 8.2 million m3 natural gas and electric power 140 million KWH every year. So the plant belongs to the government’s key energy regulation object. For the energy consumption enterprise, energy consumption also means great potential for energy saving. In the backdrop of the steel industry’s continued downturn and the increasingly fierce competition of carbon industry, the plant must control well the management of energy saving, it is not only the requirement of the state and society, but the effective ways to reduce the production cost and enhance the product competitiveness.This article embarks from the present situation of the BS plant, firstly, the article investigates the energy consumption status of BS carbon plant. Through the analysis of the situation of energy management to find the existing energy management problems as the aspect of organization structure, management system, enterprise culture, products, technology, etc. Then the article uses the advanced energy management ideas to put forward and implement the optimization of energy management from two aspects of management method and engineering technology. The purpose is to reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency, and also to fulfill the social responsibility of energy conservation and emissions reduction and environmental protection.
