A Study On The Service Function And Management Practices Of Marine Insurance

Shipping insurance is known as marine insurance, which is the origin of the modern insurance system. Shipping insurance has become an indispensable part of the shipping industry and the financial industry, it can transfer the risk and provide economic compensation function in shipping insurance and provide cash flow in the financial area through the time-lag between collect the premium and pay for the insurance proceeds. Shipping insurance could promote the development of shipping and financial as a catalyst.Since the beginning of opening policy, Shipping insurance has got development rapidly which is benefit from China economic development during the last decades. However, China shipping insurance could not provide excellent service due to few senior compound talent, which caused in R&D capability on new types of insurance, management model, reinsurance and P&I insurance and other aspect lags far behind the International shipping center, such as London, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong. So we need to enhance comprehensive strength both in the construction of software and hardware.This article researches from the basic function of shipping insurance and points out its financial function in value transformation, financing, risk management, information disclosure, value measurement and incentive, etc. Shipping insurance is the core department in the shipping market system, it has intersection with carriage of cargo by sea, ship financial and marine law, and all of them are indicators to measure whether an area could be called a world shipping centre. In addition, through study and analysis, this thesis suggests that one hand shipping insurance should be supervised by CIRC from a macro level.on the other hand, we can use the key-account management experience of the developed countries for reference at micro level, which is conducive to the practices of China shipping insurance management.
