This paper focuses on the identity reconstruction of railway workers, from their microcosmic life and its history evolution, to observe medium system change, and reflect more macro social transformation. On one hand, nowadays Chinese society is experiencing a comprehensive transformation and change, railway become the last bastion of reform. But the reform is an inevitable trend in the development of market economy. The fate of the railway workers change with system development, this article studies the changes of their life, discusses the transformation and reconstruction of its identity, given them sociology humanistic care that their deserved.Based on this thoughts, this article select the first-line railway staff of L railway, which located in southwest, as the research object. According to the micro level of railway worker’s subjective psychological facts and body experience, this paper trying to explore the railway workers’ identity evolution mechanism and refactoring features, from the perspective of their daily life and interpersonal.This paper use "cognitive dissonance" theory, "I" in the mirror ", "generalized others" to answer the question discussed above. Specifically this answer the following questions:(1) how their life change in the process of market-oriented reform. (2)How their identity perception basis on such changes? What is the internal mechanism? (3)After loss their "decent" life, how they adjust the cognitive dissonance, refactoring self-identity and life structure?As a status symbol, railway workers has a consistent identity of "railway big brother", the formation of such identity is their self- constructed together with the politic system and "the others". In the process of Marketization reform, profound changes have taken place in railway workers’ status, welfare benefits and special power. On the longitudinal, their identity change from the "railway big brother" to the edge, on the transverse, their experienced the area lies between "we" and "their". On the one hand, railway worker clearly recognize their identity of "marginalization"; on the other hand, Other professional groups’ thoughts of them, form a kind of external cultural environment, such formation and oppression environment, making them experience the identity anxiety. Facing pressure from both inside and outside, they surmounted the "other" and return to self to construct self-identity. On this basis, the railway workers started out of the border, establish new relationships, and eliminate the area lies between "we" and "their".
