Being a micro-unit of market economy, whether firm is able to achieve a lasting and steady development has always been a key issue of theoretical academics. As a result, study on the developing competence of firm has been successively and ceaselessly explored by scholars with insistent efforts. Based on the previous studies, the author introduces the firm heterogeneity and aims at opening the “black box”-enterprise and conducting research on the influence exerted by Firm Heterogeneity upon the development of enterprise from the angle of the Endogeneity of firm. Based on the Theory of the Growth of the Firm, the thesis explores the factors that influence the growth of enterprise from the perspective of Endogeneity. Major findings have been achieved as follows: firstly, every single firm is a unique existence of differentiation mainly caused by the internal factor of firm- the heterogeneity of firm; secondly, the firm acquires internal resources of differentiation with knowledge and experience continuously accumulated in the process of self-development; thirdly, facing the fierce market competition, the firm is supposed to alter an optimal approach to integrating the internal resources of differentiation and build core competitiveness which can’t be imitated and replicated by other firms; fourthly, only the core competitiveness that based on differentiation of internal growth of the firm is the source of long-term survival of the firm.The research of the thesis are mainly divided into five parts:The first part firstly introduces the background and significance of the research and clearly states the research purpose and content, besides it makes detail exploration into the approach and thought used to carry out the research.In the second part, the origin of Heterogeneity and the theoretical bases of the Growth of the Firm have been illustrated in detail. In addition, the author has make a thorough and comprehensive summary of the previous studies on Heterogeneity and developing competence of firm at home and abroad. Stepping on the shoulders of the Growth Theory of various firms and previous studies, the author reveal show developing competence is influenced by Heterogeneity of firm, which lays a solid theoretical foundations for the author’s research.The third part is the research design part of the whole thesis: firstly, it analyzes what research samples to choose and the specific source of the collected data; secondly, it makes construction of index system based on the ready samples and collected data, among which are construction of the index of heterogeneity, the construction of growth competence and the choice of control variable; lastly, the author makes construction of research model. In this thesis, the author calculates the index of heterogeneity referring to Euclidean Distance Method while constructing of comprehensive evaluation index of growth competence applying Factors Analysis Method, then constructs a regression model for the index of heterogeneity and growth competence of the firm.The forth part is an empirical analysis of the influence exerted by heterogeneity upon the growth competence. Based on the model construction of previous part, the index of heterogeneity and growth competence of Chinese manufacturing industry in 2013 can be calculated by substituting the specific data into each model and makes analysis of regression result after substituting the obtained data into the regression model constructed in the thesis.The fifth part, the author has drawn a conclusion according to the analysis of the regression result made previously. The author has proposed several policies and some advice, additionally, the author pointed out both the innovation and limitation of the research in the conclusion part.Based on the hypothesis of Heterogeneity, and supported by the Theory of Growth, the author chooses the data of 1342 enterprises out of listed companies of Chinese manufacturing industry in 2013 and conducts researches on index system of heterogeneity and growth competence of the firm. Firstly, the author makes adjustment of the microcosmic data of the enterprise to some extent and selects the index that can fully represents the heterogeneity and growth competence of the firm, laying a foundation for construction of the index system of both heterogeneity and growth competence; secondly, referring to the previous research method, the author calculates the coefficient of heterogeneity of the 1342 enterprises using the Euclidean Distance and constructs a comprehensive evaluation index of growth competence of the firm applying the Factor Analysis, what’s more, the author constructs the regression model of the index of heterogeneity and comprehensive evaluation index of growth competence of the firm, making further anlysis of the result of the regression model and drawing the research conclusion. It has been showed by the research result: as for most Chinese manufacturing industry,the heterogeneity has a promotion effect on the growth competence of the firm; the firm is supposed to make proper use of self-differentiation and the differentiation knowledge and experience resources accumulated in the process of self-development to build the core competitiveness and realize the sustainable development.
