This paper illustrates the role of energy in economic growth through the economicdevelopment of dependence and influence to consumption,energy is an important factor ineconomic development, economic growth will inevitably result in energy consumption, whileat the same time, economic growth create conditions for energy consumption;Energy is thepower source of economic growth, and the role of restricting economic development factors.This paper studies the changes relationship between industrial energy consumption andindustrial economic growth in Xinjiang, industrial energy consumption as a variable into theCobb-Dauglas production function, through the1988-2011years of Xinjiang gross industrialproduction, industrial energy consumption, industrial fixed asset investment of the wholesociety and industrial employment regression and cointegration test, concluded that Xinjiang’sindustrial energy consumption and industrial economic growth are in a interrelationship.Through the research discovery, a significant cointegration relationship exists between theXinjiang industrial energy consumption and industrial economic growth, and the causalrelationship, namely industrial energy consumption is one reason Grainger industrialeconomic growth. Industrial energy consumption of industrial economic growth significantly,and its contribution to the industry’s contribution to economic growth than the industry totalfixed asset investment and industrial employment. At the same time, the relationship betweenthe mining,manufacturing, electricity, gas and water production and supply industryenergyconsumption and industrial economic growth were studied, and the results showed that theco-integration relationship exists between three significantly with industrial economic growth.The study found, Xinjiang unit GDP energy consumption is high compared with otherdeveloped regions, the energy utilization efficiency and low level of technology; Xinjianghigh energy consumption elasticity coefficient, suggesting that the economy of the energydependence of higher.In this paper the present situation of energy consumption in Xinjiang, and puts forwardcounter measures for energy development in Xinjiang: energy saving,change the mode ofeconomic growth; adjust the industrial structure, reduce economic growth depends onindustrial energy consumption; extend the industrial chain, take the road of sustainabledevelopment; correctly handle the relationship between economic growth and energy saving; improve relevant policies energy saving measures; improve the energy-saving awareness ofthe whole society.
