Both of Tungsten (W) and Molybdenum (Mo) are non renewable rare elements in nature as theimportant strategic resources. Therefore, the survival of W-Mo products in the competitive marketdepends on its quality and costs. For example, the most important task is introducing6σ theoryinto the overall quality improvement project of the C-type W-Mo products produced in Asubsidiary under Xiamen Tungsten Group due to the extremely high spoiled products rate at thebeginning.6σ theory was propounded in the mid-1980’s. The overall quality management was inheritedand further developed based on the6σ theory. After the continuously improvement in the past30years,6σ theory has been formed the whole theory system, which integrated the businessimprovement system, and consequently the customs’ satisfactions is increased, the competition ofthe company is enhanced and the enterprise’s culture is innovated as well.In my article, in order to improve the quality of C-type W-Mo products, for example,6σtheory was introduced, and then the spoiled products rate was reduced from8%to1%in theschedule by using DMAIC method. Firstly, we analyzed reasons of the high spoiled products ratestep by step from the project selection to processing selection. Thereafter, the spoiled order wasknown, and then these problems were fixed. We finally reduced the spoiled products rate. Themeasurement system was analyzed in the measurement stage, and then we gave them the adviceon how to improve it in the situation, in order to confirm the measurement accuracy and itsreliability. In the improving stage, we found the most important impact factors in the dominantproducing processing. In the controlling stage, we estimated the overall reliability of productionline by using6σ theory and then improve it from the management. Therefore, the stability ofproducing processing is realized.It’s confirmed the value and effect of6σ theory in the production through operating the projectmanagement. Simultaneously, it also can be used as the guidance of quality improvement ofW-Mo products by using6σ theory in the whole W-Mo producing industry in future.
