| Public-private partnerships (Public-Private Partnerships, PPPs) is an innovativefinancing model of the cooperation of government and private, which can spur thedevelopment of infrastructure projects and the improvement of public services.PPPproject originated in Britain which has been widely used in developed and developingcountries such as United States, Japan, Australia and so on. The PPPs was introducedinto our country in1980s, which greatly improved the level of public services andpromoted the development of infrastructure, has been extended to many areas such asenvironmental protection, transportation, education, health care and so on. However,for the phenomenon of self-interest the confrontation between public and private,there is often suspicion and mistrust of the other party in PPPs, and engender negativeinfluence, then leads to the poor performance or failure eventually. Therefore, the studyof the relation between trust and performance in PPP projects is necessary and urgentto guide the management of behavior between the two parties.In this paper we analyzed the definition and dimensions of trust、specific assetinvestment and performance. Based on this theory we will conclude this assumption inPPP projects. Then we will build the theoretical model among the trust、specific assetinvestment and performance of the PPPs. To verify the research hypotheses and models,we used questionnaire survey, data collection, data processing by linear regressionanalysis in statistical software. The empirical results reveal that trust will play apositive role on the performance, and special assets investment exist as an intervening variable between trust and performance in PPPs.The research result of this study is an vital addition to the theoretical study, whichpertinence relation between trust and performance in PPPs. It also could providetheoretical guidance to trust and behavioral decision-making resulting for both partners,once the model has been applied efficiently. |
