The purpose of the thesis is to correct present misunderstandings and mistakes in Lafarge external stakeholders’management, and to help the project owner to pay more attention to the project "external network", to have enough knowledge about the managing methods, and to fulfill the project management system.The thesis redefined the key stakeholders of Infrastructure Investment project by using "Mitchell score" analyses, and divided them into "internal stakeholders" and "external stakeholders". The thesis detailed analyzed the external stakeholders’ interest appeals, conflict with project, and their influence to project management. The thesis pointed out present mistakes and shortcomings in Lafarge project external stakeholders’management, and proposed relevant managing methods and steps. Finally the thesis explained how to apply these managing methods in exact project management, by using examples of Lafarge Cement production lines investment project.Firstly, the thesis redefined the key stakeholders of Infrastructure Investment project by using "Mitchell score" analyses. Then divided the key stakeholders of Infrastructure Investment projects into "Internal network", including project investors, project owner, project construction management group, and "external network", including project vendors, government, and project located community.Secondly, from the point of project owner, the thesis analyzed the different interest appeals of different external stakeholders in different period of the project life cycle, their conflict with project interest, and the influence to project management, based on the writer’s own experience and the theories of project conflict management, project life cycle, project stakeholders management. Following the discipline of "cooperation and Win-Win", the thesis proposed the key points, methods, and steps, to the external stakeholders’interest conflicts management in different periods, for infrastructure investment projects. At last, using the examples of cement production lines project of Lafarge Cement Company, in Gongxian, YiBin, Sichuan, the thesis explained how to apply the external stakeholders relationship management in exact project management.The thesis believed the core of external stakeholder’s management is the management to each party’s interest conflict. And the basic rule and target of external stakeholders management is to create a "Win-Win", harmonious, cooperative external network, including strategic partnership with project vendors, an open and honest relationship with government, and a harmonious relationship with the community. Only based on these, can a favorable external environment be built, for the project’s successful construction and long terms operation. |
