Since the reform and opening-up, the economy in China had a sharp increase. Foreign trade hasdeveloped rapidly as an important part of the Chinese economy. Export has made great contribution to theincrease of GDP of China year by year. Especially after becoming a member of the WTO, foreign trade hasbeen developing at an amazing speed. Since the21st century, with the high attention to the economicdevelopment in central region, Henan as a major economic province in central China has made a rapiddevelopment.Under the situation of the global financial crisis and the sluggish growth of economy, theforeign trade of Henan is still rising. Luoyang, as the key city of foreign trade in Henan, is worthy ofstudying with its foreign trade development, especially after the subprime crisis, Luoyang’s foreigntradealso met lots of problems, its ranking in the province is not very satisfactory.It’s necessary for us to identifythe problem, and work out solutions to support the foreign trade development of Luoyang.Luoyang as13dynasties history of China, also is the start in the eastern part of the ancient silk road,and occupies an important position in world trade. Since the reform and opening-up,Luoyang’s economyhas obtained a rapid development. With the promotion of the economic aggregate,foreign trade in Luoyangalso plays a more and more important role in the economy. Especially after China entering to the WTO, theexports of Luoyang has had a rapid increase which make it rank the top three in Henan province. Even ifLuoyang has obtained achievements in foreign trade,we still can not neglect the defects and insufficient.Onone hand, foreign trade in Luoyang is not stable,which is easily been affected by external factors.Especially after the subprime crisis of the United States, the foreign trade had a sharp decline. Luoyang’sforeign trade had been suffering some extent fluction with the flowing European debt crisis. After the twocrises, the foreign trade has received great impact and its position of the foreign trade in Henan provincehas also been replaced by some other cities in Henan.On the other hand, it’s hard to develop the foreigntrade, and is easily being catched up by some other cities in Henan. Under the circumstances, studing ofluoyang’s foreign trade, and fining out the way of further development is becoming particularlyimportantThe foreign trade of Luoyang holds an important status not only in Luoyang,but also in the wholeHenan province.The study.is significant to the development of bothe Luoyang and Henan. On the basis of theory of sustainable development of foreign trade,we study the problems ofLuoyang’s foreign trade through the comparative analysis method, literature analysis and chart analysis.This paper studied the development of foreign trade of luoyang.Firstly, we confirm it as the starting pointof the silk road in the east how to produce positive effects. Then we continue studying the developmenthistory of the foreign trade of Luoyang and the changes of luoyang GDP. The third, we keep going on thechanges of luoyang’s export, import and the total amount since1998, the change of the export commoditystructure since2007,and the development of foreign trade in2013. Through these studies we can have adirect and profound understanding on luoyang’s foreign trade, which in turn helps the next research. Then,we selected the top cities of the foreign trade of the province in recent years (zhengzhou, jiaozuo, anyang,xuchang) to compare with luoyang, To find the deficiency of foreign trade. In this paper, we focuses onexports of the selected cities compared with luoyang, Through the comparison and analysis, we findluoyang foreign trade had been developing well until2008, Since2008affected by the subprime crisisluoyang’s foreign trade has fallen dramatically, Although have rebounded then, But its development haslagged behind some other cities in the province, which is worthy of our attention. In addition, this articlealso compares the total import and export and foreign trade dependency, To find out the problems existingin the development process between five city, focusing on the shortage of the luoyang compared with othercities. In the next part of the study,it analyzes the problems existing in luoyang foreign tradedetailed, Suchas small volume of foreign trade, ranking fell significantly, Export structure imbalance, small scaleimports,etc. Finally, the paper proposes the corresponding solutionsin view of the problems existing in theforeign trade of luoyang, These solutions are in view of the government, also in view of the enterprise, wishthe government to joint efforts with enterprises to improve the foreign trade of the city of luoyang, then inturn promote the development of the economy of luoyang.
