Abstract:China is a vast agricultural country, and agricultural byproducts are indispensable in people’s daily life. For11consecutive years from2004to2014, the No.1Central Documents have attached great importance to the agricultural issues. The vegetable industry featuring wide planting area and dispersed distribution in China is more affected by natural disasters and market demand, and therefore belongs to a weak industry. However, the steady development of vegetable industry has played a vital role for the economic development, social stability and harmony in China. So in response to the frequent occurrences of natural disasters and fluctuating market, which pose a negative impact on the development of vegetable industry, the vegetable insurance emerges as the times required. But now, China’s vegetable insurance industry is still in the beginning stages, the problems such as inadequate legislation system, business practices and vegetable growers’insurance awareness and so on, are seriously restricts to the development of vegetable industry in China.The thesis bases on current status of vegetable insurance in China, analyzes the existing problems and causes, refers to the experience of advanced countries in terms of the development of vegetable industry, and proposes some suitable suggestions for agricultural conditions in China. The thesis consists of four chapters to elaborate on the following aspects in details.The first chapter presents research background and significance of implementation of vegetable insurance; the second chapter illustrates current situation of vegetable insurance in China, from aspects of characteristics, problems and corresponding causes of those problems; the third chapter compares the management modes of vegetable insurance in some advanced countries; the fourth chapter puts forward concrete suggestions for the development of vegetable insurance system which is suitable for China’s national conditions by reference to the advanced experience of vegetable insurance in some foreign countries.
