Land remediation is a meaningful activity which can promote economicdevelopment, strengthen the social stability, optimize the ecological environment.This meets the requirements of sustainable development. The starting point is good,but at the same time of solving old conflict will appear new contradictions. Someunexpected problems arising from the implementation process of project arousingpeople’s concern. For example, blind pursuit of rural modernization may cause thepollution of water and air, affect resident’s living environment. Place too muchemphasis on promoting economic benefit, blindly increase the quantity of cultivatedland and regardless of the ecological environmental bearing capacity will cause soildegradation. The purpose of land remediation is to obtain the biggest economicbenefits and social benefits for a long time on the basis of ecological security. So, thequestion of sustainability of land remediation becomes the research object of manyscholars. But most of these studies are taking middle and east of China to be object.Obviously, these achievements do not apply to northwest region which has a tenderecologic environment. The sustainability of land remediation in arid region needs atarget system to evaluate it more.The thesis makes Toksun county to be research object, evaluates its sustainabilityof land remediation in2000-2010. In this ten years, Toksun county carry out5projects of land remediation which all concentrated in four villages. So, the study onsustainability of land in Toksun county equals the study on the four villages.Firstly, the thesis summarizes commonly used evaluation indexes ofsustainability of land remediation through consulting excellent doctoral dissertation,periodical literature and some other ways. According to the research of the studyarea’s climate, soil, hydrological conditions, and combining with the scores whichgiven by expert, the functionaries who had participated in land remediation to screenout13valuable indexes. Then, the indexes are objectively classified into three sides according to the sustainability of economic, social and ecological benefits by usingthe principal component analysis (PCA). Thirdly, use the AHP to constructhierarchical analysis model, and combine with the score got from the Delphi methodto calculate the weighted value of principal component factors and every index.According to the calculated results:the score of economic sustainability by the0.0884、0.0526、0.0734、0.0526in2000up to0.3538、0.4327、0.4103、0.4497in2010;the score of social sustainability in2000is0.0609、0.0636、0.0590、0.1327, andin2010is0.2018、0.0406、0.0652、0.2776;ecological sustainability in2000is0.1090、0.0203、0.0456、0.0587, and in2010is0.0437、0.0271、0.0639、0.0461. The scoreof land remediation sustainability is0.2584,0.1365,0.1780、0.2441in2000;0.5993,0.5004,0.5394、0.7734in2010. Analysis result shows that the sustainability of landremediation improved obviously. But some problems arise in the social sustainabilityand ecological sustainability at the same time.
