| Natural gas is a high-quality, efficient and clean fossil energy, among which natural gas has the lowest coefficient of carbon emissions. Natural gas has been widely applied to every field of life and production. At present, it accounts for about24%in the world’s energy consumption structure. In2012, the world’s natural gas production is3.36trillion cubic meters and the consumption is3.31trillion cubic meters. The world natural gas market is functioning smoothly, with balance between supply and demand. Due to the natural gas industrial base is relatively weak, compared with the international average level, the ratio of natural gas in our country’s energy consumption structure is still relatively low. However, the formal business of Gas Pipeline Project the marked the natural gas industry in China has entered a rapid development period. In the meantime, with the accelerating of the construction of infrastructure such as China’s natural gas pipeline network, gas storage, LNG receiving station, we have formed a unified national natural gas pipe network backbone, the gas production capacity construction and production in each domestic big gas field increased rapidly, natural gas imports soared, import sources and channels are broading, shale gas, coal-bed methane and other unconventional gas also got rapid development, which formed a diversified pattern of gas supply.Some developed countries have been serious pollution, the main reason of which is unreasonable energy structure, especially the high proportion of coal in the energy structure, which is the important cause of high and frequency air pollution. Experience also suggests that the effective governance of environment pollution must change the energy structure which is given priority to coal as soon as possible, from which to reduce the proportion of coal energy structure to a relatively low level. For such a developing country in our country, because water and electricity is limited by the potential; New energy sources base such as wind power, electricity, solar is too small, for a long period of time, improving the effect of energy structure is very small; Nuclear power can replace coal mass, but need a long construction period, which is also high to the requirement of geological structure and environmental safety; Oil prices are expensive and external dependency is close to60%. In this view, the short-term adjustment of energy structure is difficult. Natural gas is known as "green energy", which is an efficient clean fuel of high-quality. Its reservation and production growth is rapid; Its proportion in the energy mix is rising. The natural gas is cleaner than the coal, cheaper than the oil, with mature mining technology. Accordingly, it will be an important future energy to replace coal and oil. Therefore, China should take advantage of rich natural gas resources in domestic and international market, put more effort to adjust the consumption structure of nature gas, streamline the price transmission mechanisms, promote the expansion of natural gas market, and make a positive contribution in alleviating the air pollution.Based on this, through access to massive relevant literature and related research results in this field, this paper makes full use of data and material in "BP energy statistics yearbook ""The Chinese energy statistics yearbook ""World Energy Outlook "" Chinese City Statistical Yearbook in "" Domestic and International industry development report of oil and gas in". The background of this research is present serious haze weather. By adopting Statistics survey and analyzing method, Induction of history, Empirical Analysis, Comparative analysis methods, this paper analyze the current situation of energy utilization in our country, forecast the demand trend of energy in the future. Combined with the belief of promoting green development, circular development, low carbon development and building a beautiful China, this paper make an intensive study on the competitive advantage of natural gas and other energy, sum up the strategic importance of natural gas in Chinese energy structure, provide theoretical basis for the optimization of energy structure, extensive development of natural gas and control of air pollution.Through this study, we make major collusions:(1) Through the analysis of current situation of China’s energy, the results show that, Chinese energy production and consumption is ascending year by year, with rapid growth rate of natural gas and electricity power. But in terms of energy use, energy consumption per unit of GDP is much higher than the world average level.(2) Through accurate prediction of the trend on energy demand in China and price elasticity of energy demand, results show that, demand growth of new energy and natural gas in the future will ascend.(3) Through Empirical Analysis and Application comparison of Chinese natural gas and other energy, the results show that, natural gas reservation is abundant; it is advantageous in reducing energy consumption per GDP, with benefits in minimum CO2emission, high efficiency, good economic returns and low pollution.(4) Through the analysis and summary of the strategic position of natural gas in China’s energy, results show that, natural gas is the strategic choice for China’s energy development, and it will be positive to optimize Chinese energy structure. On the other hand, the reservation of unconventional natural gas is abundant. If unconventional natural gas is sufficiently used, it will be instrumental for air pollution control in China.It is suggested that China should strengthen the development of unconventional natural gas, seize the opportunity of rapid growth of natural gas, while strengthening the strategic research on natural gas growth, to take a lead in the health development of natural gas industry. In natural gas industry, our government should reform the natural gas pricing mechanism; introduce the market competition mechanism to promote diversified development of natural gas. By current and long-term consideration, China should stick to address both the symptoms and root cause, use multiply method to utilize and explore the advantage of natural gas sufficiently. Thereby, we should set up the concept of ecological civilization of respecting nature, comply with nature, preserve nature, and lay a solid foundation for building a beautiful China. |
