A Study Of Resource Nationalism And China’s Coping Strategy

The author tries to see resource nationalism in a non-discriminating way, exploresthe driving factors behind it, divides it into different types and proposes solutions forChina. After reviewing the evolution of resource nationalism, the author argues thatits existence is reasonable and plays a positive role to some extent. There are a varietyof driving factors, not only economic ones. By countries’ different strategic target,resource nationalism is divided into “offensive resource nationalism” and “defensiveresource nationalism”. For different types, author offers solutions respectively, but thefundamental solution lies in trade and investment liberalization and cooperationbetween countries.
