Designing and manufacturing large aircraft are complicated systematic projects which have thecharacteristics of long development cycle, complex system components, high technical difficulty, highinvestment risks and so on. The vast majority parts of the large aircraft need to be supplied bysuppliers to shorten the cycle time of designing and manufacturing, reduce cost and investment riskand access to more markets. Therefore, the quality of the large aircraft mainly depends on the level ofsupplier quality management, and the main manufacturer must has an effective quality managementprocess of suppliers in order to strictly monitor the suppliers’ quality management activities and theirlevel of quality, which can ensure the overall quality level of large aircraft.The article studies the suppliers’ quality management of large aircraft from the point of process,and analyzes the key issues such as process optimization and its performance evaluation related to thefield to explore the important relevant theories and methods. It includes the contents as follows:(1)The supplier quality management processes of Chinese large aircraft have been sorted andanalyzed. Based on the successful experience of the typical foreign large aircraft manufacturingindustrious supplier quality management processes, Chinese large aircraft supplier qualitymanagement process is described and its flowchart is constructed, and the currently main problems issummed up as well.(2) The optimization method of the large aircraft supplier quality management process based onthe interpretation structural model and supplier quality control have been put forward. According tooptimization analysis of Chinese large aircraft supplier quality management processes to explain thestructural model, it can be concluded that quality assessment and quality inspection are two core partsof the process, its process optimization measures are proposed and the process after being optimizedis provided. In order to improve the rate of qualified products, avoiding quality inspection link to savethe time and cost, supplier quality control method of inspection system and information asymmetry isput forward. The total revenue of main manufacturer and supplier is seen as the objective function.Through constructing a series of non-linear constraints, suppliers can be ensured to select thehigh-quality level for the production while maximizing their revenue,which can enhance theirproduct yield, then the quality inspection can be effectively controlled to some extent as a result. Atlast, the method is verified by an example.(3) Evaluational index system and2-tuple linguistic evaluation model based on linguistic degree of grayness are constructed for the process performance of supplier quality management in the field oflarge aircraft. For the lack of current performance evaluation methods, the concept and measuringapproach of linguistic degree of grayness is proposed to measure the degree of the information thatdecision-makers have grasped, then the2-tuple linguistic operator considering linguistic degree ofgrayness is designed, and the2-tuple linguistic evaluation model based on linguistic degree ofgrayness is established. Meanwhile, a sorting method for the calculation of this method is furtherpresented. At last, the model is applied to evaluate the performance of supplier quality managementprocess in the field of large aircraft and the method is validated by an example as well.
