With the development of global economic, shipbuilding market continues to heatup and shipbuilding enterprises have developed rapidly, but the competition in theshipping industry is also intensifying. Shipbuilding is a complex production process andcontains an enormous logistics costs. And logistics gets unprecedented attention whenthe profit growth space maintained by traditional compression of cost and expansion ofsales data shrinks. But throughout the entire manufacturing process, tube processingplant is one particularly important sector, and its production schedules affect a boat’sproduction cycle tremendously. In other words, optimizing the design of the logisticssystem of tube processing plant is an effective means to reduce logistics costs andshorten production cycle.In this paper, we take CD tube processing plant as research background to explorethe optimization and evaluation method of the logistics system of tube processing plant.And our main purposes are to solve those problems concerning confusing logisticssystem, complicated route, logistics reflux and so on. We summarized the concepts andcharacteristics of tube processing plants in Shipbuilding Company, analyzed the currentsituation and existing problems, and eventually we proposed the optimization design ofworkshop production logistics system and evaluation requirements.In the workshop logistics system optimization design system, we proposed "double pallets " management model in shipbuilding tube processing plant and weintroduced in group technology, using processing pallet as the basic group processingunit of the tube to achieve group machining, using assemble pallet as the basic assembleunit to achieve module outfitting, and respectively, we built the optimization designconsidering production process optimization, systematic layout planning and handlingtools optimization:1) we used group technology, set the single-tube assembly andmulti-tube assembly into two different assembly lines and designed relevant processesbased on double pallet management model. In this way, we reduced logistics refluxphenomenon;2) we did research in tube processing plant facilities using SLP methodand double pallet management model. And then we set additional primary andsecondary sorting area and chose equivalent amount of logistics and logistics momentas a qualitative evaluation index;3) as the implementation of double pallet managementmodel proposed a higher demand of material handling tools (solid pallet), we redesigned those tools.In this paper, we analyzed and compared the advantages and disadvantages of eachevaluation method and determined to apply simulation technology in improving it.Finally, we conducted the optimization design of tube processing plant logistics systembased on CD Shipbuilding Company. We chose Flexsim as simulation software to markthe average amount of WIP and resource utilization rate, and we made comparativeanalysis of the before and after optimization data such as overall outputs, logisticsmoment, average amount of WIP, the average product cycle, resource utilization rateand so on to verify the feasibility of improvement.
