Study On The Relationship Between Economic Growth And The Industrial Structure Of Henan Province

Since the reform and opening up, the industrial structure of Henan Province haschanged greatly, which has played a positive role in promoting the economic growth.During the early stage of the reform and opening up, the economy of Henan increasedrather slowly. Later on, the provincial government introduced a series of policies toaccelerate the pace of industrial restructuring so as to promote the economic growth. Wenotice that in recent years Henan’s economic growth has been developing quickly.Therefore, studying the relationship between industrial restructuring and economicgrowth over the past30years of Henan Province helps to provide some suggestions foradjusting the industrial structure more reasonably, which has important practicalsignificance.Lying in the central of China, Henan is a large agricultural and populous province.Henan has been endeavoring to transform into an industrial province whose economy israther strong. Indeed，since the reform and opening up, tremendous changes has takenplace in Henan. The industrial structure is gradually becoming more and morereasonable and the economy has continued to rise. Nevertheless, the rate of growth ofeach period differs greatly. In the past, many scholars had tried various ways to makeclear the relationship between industrial restructuring and economic growth. Comparedwith such methods, this study has two obvious advantages. On one hand, studying therelationship between the two during different phases can learn more clearly that to whatdegree the industrial restructuring effects the economic growth. By using greycorrelation analysis, three industries are ordered according to their impact on the GDPgrowth of Henan. Then we can find that industrial restructuring in different stages hasdifferent influence on economic development and different industry which isemphasized in each phase also has huge impact on economic growth. On the other hand,through the multiple linear regression method, a regression model equation isestablished, which reflects that the development of three industries makes differentcontribution to economic growth. We can see that the rate of primary industry,secondary industry and tertiary industry respectively increasing by0.211,0.421and0.282can drive GDP to grow by one unit and secondary industry, tertiary industry andprimary industry are in descending order of importance for pushing Henan’s economicgrowth.
