An DEA Based Research On Tefficiency Of Logistics Industry In Hebei Province

Modern logistics industry is a new form of organization and mode of management under socialized mass production as economic, social, and technical development reaches a certain stage. With the rapid development of economy and further acceleration of globalization, a critical role has been played by the logistics industry, whose rapid development can revitalize the regional tertiary industry, alleviate the employment pressure, improve the investment environment, and further the open-door policy.It is, therefore, becoming an urgent need to explore some efficiency appraisal methods and to establish a systematic, scientific, and complete efficiency index system and evaluation mode for modern logistics industry so as to define, monitor, and reflect the process of its development in Hebei province and promote the provincial economic growth.By qualitative analyses of the present situation of China’s logistics industry and the regional advantage of Hebei logistics, it is found that logistics industry has become the second industry in Hebei province, which is the country’s major urban logistic node and southern North China’s modern logistic base. And then the paper proceeds to explore several efficiency evaluation theories and methods, and through a comparative study of them, proposes Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA).By referring to the evaluation indicators of the predecessors and the new characteristics of modern logistics industry, the paper establishes its own evaluation model. By selecting sample data of the recent six years, and employing the DEA mode, a comprehensive quantitative analysis is made on the industrial efficiency in Hebei province. In the end, some feasible policy recommendations are made on the basis of the results obtained in the analysis.
