With the development of e-commerce, customer requirement has become increasingly personalized, how to formulate a precise production plan quickly according to the customer’s individual needs has become a problem which the traditional manufacturing enterprises has to deal with. The concept of Advanced Planning and Scheduling(APS) came into being according to the new trend of discrete manufacturing. APS system which integrates planning and scheduling will provide the officials of the manufacturing enterprise with powerful decision support. It’s an important guarantee to achieve the goal of digital workshop towards “Internet Plus and Made in China 2025”.The planning and scheduling is the core of the APS system. This paper mainly discusses how to solve the Job Shop Scheduling problem(JSSP) and the Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem(FJSSP) using the Genetic Algorithm(GA). This paper proposes an improved GA for the FJSSP. This paper tests and verifies the performance of scheduling algorithm using benchmark testcase. The process can stop at any time when unexpected situation occurs in real workshop. This paper designs an planning and scheduling system based on APS with all kinds of unexpected situation taken into account. User input the processing task information and send the request via web browser. The server store the task information to MySQL database and process the hard and time-consuming scheduling job. The scheduling result can be preserved to the user in Gantt Chart or detailed scheduling information via web browser.The system is based on B/S mode. A lot of open source framework or technology has been used to develop the APS system,such as Spring MVC, Hibernate, Java,etc. As a sequence, the operating costs, portability and maintainability terms of the APS system have a considerable advantage.Finally, this paper makes an analysis and summary of designing and implementation of the APS system and suggests the future research direction.
