Laser micro-Doppler characters are very potential target identification characters. They reflect the scattering specialties, geometry, and dynamic properties of targets, which would provide a new approach of target character extraction and target identification. In order to study the key technologies in detection, extraction, and recognition of laser micro-Doppler characters, theoretical model study and experiment study are performed. The main works are listed as below:1. The dynamic models of tumbling, coning, and procession are performed based on the effective scattering point model. The micro-Doppler signatures are analyzed by the algorithm of time-frequency transforms.2. The mathematical model, based on Huygens-Fresnel principle, is deduced to predict the micro-Doppler spectral full width at half maximum(FWHM) of acquired medium current signals, which is to study the influence of laser spot size on detection performance. An experiment based on laser coherent detection is performed to verify the simulation, and the results of experiment agree with the simulation results.3. The micro-Doppler echo is analyzed by taking advantage of multiple scattering centers mode. After comparing the distinction between tumbling and procession targets, the methods of time-frequency based and micro-Doppler spectrum based methods are proposed to extract characters. The identification results of different characters are evaluated through simulations.
