Vector field visualization is one of the most challenging application domain in Visualization in scientific computing(Vi SC). Thus, this visualization method has extensive application. It changes the massive vector data emerging in science or engineering computing into graphics and images, and displays them. It makes people understand and explain the law and nature included in the abstract data visually. This paper studied on line integral convolution visualization method which is one of texture-based generation method and improved two shortcomings of the basic algorithms. In the end, we developed a LIC visualization method prototype system based on parallel coordinates and it makes the algorithm’s application more widely and easier to use by users. To begin with, based on the freedom characteristics of the data structure of Net CDF,a streamline generation LIC visualization method based on Net CDF format data is proposed. Based on the characteristics of the data format, the paper starts from the data conversion and maps to generate the original data matrix. And then, using relevant software reading, analysis, and visual express the information of vector field direction.Secondly, on the basis of streamline generation LIC method, for linear and nonlinear color enhancement cannot make full use of the color space from the color mapping table, a sine nonlinear color enhancement visualization method is proposed. At last, the distribution of color is more balanced in the final visualization result. And it also maximizes the use of the color space of the color mapping table. And then, for the question of visual effect that vector size graduated vaguely because of low texture contrast, a new approach of vector field texture visualization which combines field driven strength with white noise texture. Not only improved the texture contrast, but also improved the detail rendering of the texture to enhance the identification gradual change area. Finally, on the basis of the above improvements, parallel coordinates prototype system is designed and implemented, and the proposed methods are verified with experiments and analyses to prove the feasibility and effectiveness.
