In recent years, the research of communication and electronic technology has made a breakthrough,As well as the popularization and application of computers and other products, electronic products play an increasingly important role in people’s life and work,Electronic products bring a lot of convenience to people,With the diversification of electronic products, people in the selection and use of electronic products, has been from the simple practicality product, intelligent design to the pursuit of product.Human computer interaction as a bridge between human and machine "communication",to solve the problem of interaction between people and machine equipment, but also brought some constraints, how to achieve intelligent human-computer interaction has become an important research topic.Gesture recognition technology as a new generation of human-computer interaction means, to achieve the purpose of manual manipulation of electronic equipment, features to get rid of the limitation of the traditional human-computer interaction tools, has a natural, convenient and practical etc., in the actual work and life applications is very extensive.Hand gesture recognition is an important research direction of the new generation of intelligent human-computer interaction tools,this paper in existing gesture recognition based on the study proposed a static hand gesture recognition system based on FPGA, using Verilog HDL hardware design language, to DE2-115 development board as the hardware design platform, with the external image acquisition, VGA display, SDRAM memory module to complete five preset static hand gesture recognition..FPGA is a field programmable gate array, using the advantages of parallel processing hardware, to complete more tasks in each clock cycle,This paper makes full use of the advantages of FPGA to meet the design requirements.This design is mainly for the study of five kinds of static gestures, static gesture is a single gesture, there is no continuous additional action, the recognition of static gestures do not track the movement of gestures,This design mainly includes four parts, including gesture image acquisition, image processing analysis, VGA display and gesture matching recognition,The gesture image acquisition part using gestures through image acquisition acquisition space operator suite, as the input source of subsequent modules;The image processing part completes the analysis and processing of the acquired image, including median filtering, skin color segmentation, edge detection, feature extraction and so on;VGA display part of the completion of the image in the processing of all aspects of real-time display;Gesture matching recognition part mainly completes the extraction of gesture image and sample matching identification to determine the gesture to the completion of the operation, output the recognition results and the development board LED lights go out and lit on the recognition results are verified.
