Power grid is one of the critical infrastructure. The communication which take advantage of power line as transport media called power line communication. The researchers found that the presence of unreliable nodes when using TTI algorithm in the PLC communication system topology detection process, mainly as a single node communications random instability and even complete failure. And this node failure may lead to a failure of the topology inference and even the structural vulnerability of the PLC networks.In order to reduce the structural vulnerability caused by the node failure, some research related to the key indicators affect the structural vulnerability and the smart fault location algorithm was done, and sum up an algorithm based on TTI topology inference algorithm to reduce the impact of the node failure. This new algorithm has first introduce the concept of Node instability and cluster classification to against the node failure.Evaluate the failure node instability degree according to the failure node communication instability manifested in the process of topology inference, and adopt different processing method based on different instability degrees. Since the higher node degree tare more likely to cause structural vulnerability, therefore the resilient of the node failure technique should try to reduce the node-degree of failure nodes at first, so the cluster classification mechanism was introduced. That is a failure node within a cluster in the cluster tree topology couldn’t be used as a cluster head and can only be used as a member in the cluster, and if it is out of a cluster it can only be a leaf node of the tree topology. And further set up a special domain address for the failure node as it cannot be a key routing rely node. At last, on the basis of the length measurement data in the process of the topology inference to achieve the location of the failure node, and the final result will be shown on topology result from topology inference process to provide effective system maintenance reference information.Experimental results show that the improved algorithm can effectively improve the robustness and reliability of electric power communication system. Lower the vulnerability of the grid caused by failure nodes. Therefore, this method is gradually applied to the actual PLC system.
