Nowadays, there are three most typical transport technologies for IP service:IP over ATM, IP over SDH and IP over WDM. Compared with the other two, IP over WDM takes full advantage of the large bandwidth of WDM and the strong exchange capacity of the high-speed Routing Switch to reasonably optimize and configure the traffic engineering, protection and restoration and QoS between the IP layer and the optical layer, and finally form a simple and efficient network hierarchy. In order to improve the management function of the optical network and enhance its bandwidth utilization, automation and intelligence are introduced to the optical network through the control plane. In the IP over Optical network structure, the underlying optical network will gradually transform from the WDM network which provides a static path to the IP layer to the intelligent optical network which provides dynamic light channel link for the IP layer.Network survivability is defined as the capability to resist network failure like the interruption or interference of service and has become a growing concern. The intelligent optical network has a huge difference from the traditional optical network in the network architecture, and the issues of survivability will also display new features. Therefore, the in-depth study of survivability technology has its practical value and will promote the development of intelligent optical networking technology.Based on this background and with the support of the national 863 project of "Distributed control rapid connection and co-optical network resource optimization", this thesis has studied the survivability technology in IP over WDM intelligent optical network. The main work and achievements include:1. The research background and significance of the IP over WDM optical network survivability technology are generally introduced. The development of research situation, technical levels and standardization progress about this field are also studied and summarized. Then according to the requirements of next-generation optical network and combined with the characteristics of the intelligent optical network, a survivable virtual topology mapping algorithm for single-node failure is proposed and is taken as the central issue of this paper.2. With the support of National 863 Project, a distributed collaborative management and control optical network test bed is set up. The author is mainly responsible for the design and development of the resource management module in the ASON control plane. In this paper the module function, the software design idea and the implementation procedures are introduced. Through consultation with both signaling and routing mechanism of the network protocol stack, the communications and interactions between the function module interfaces are enhanced. In the process of the ASON architecture extending from intra-domain to inter-domain, the extension of the resource management module functions is achieved.3. Based on the experimental platform, the function of the survivable virtual topology mapping algorithm for single-node failure based on the SRLG technology is emulated to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm. And the next-step prospect is also made for the future development.
