Large numbers of dedicated hardware was used in the traditional mobile communication network. With the deployment of the LTE network and the expanded research of the 5th generation, it is more difficult to design,integrate and handle the hardware devices due to the various of network services and collaborative technologies. In order to satisfy the future demands of the communication technology, we need to make up the shortcomings of the traditional structure and design a new one. The base station form based on NFV technology used the industry standard GPP platform, storage and switch equipment, also redefined the mobile communication protocol with software, which makes it cost less than before and have a more flexible network capacity. It has become the hot spots in the Industry and Academia.Firstly, this paper summarized the development of the 5th generation mobile communication, as well as the NFV technology and SDN technology. Then this paper briefly described the main impact factors of the MAC sub-layer scheduling algorithms and its evaluation standard. After this, we introduced several classical scheduling algorithms, and proposed a design scheme of a kind of scheduling algorithm based on business priorities, which is actually used in our MAC sub-layer software design.Secondly, this paper introduced the embedded base station form used in the traditional communication network. After this, we presented a kind of virtualization form according to the OAI and other SDR base station platform. Subsequently, combined with the ideas of distributed protocol stack proposed by China Mobile and its C-RAN network architecture, we described the distributed base station form based on C-RAN in detail. According to this base station form, we developed a MAC sub-layer scheme which has virtualization features and implemented it by software. In addition, we proposed a scheduling architecture using cross-list and a kind of pool-based resource allocation mechanism to guarantee the MAC sub-layer entity’s real-time processing ability.Finally, this paper analyzed the performance of the four scheduling algorithm, and test the MAC sub-layer implementation using unit test. After this, we transplanted the software entity to the virtual software base station prototype and tested if it can work well. Both the simulation and the test results verified the correctness and effectiveness of the implementation proposed by this paper.
