Compared to other mobile data communication technologies, WLAN has several advantages, for example, steadiness, free, and high speed, which make it one of users’ best choices and researchers’focus. While the telecommunication develops, the software radio technology also improves, but with the essential problem of general processor’s efficiency, it was limited. In the year of2008, MSRA published a thesis about a new Software Radio platform-SORA, which makes high throughput successful on GPP, once gain revives the software radio technology. The key of software radio is how to overcome the calculation speed problem. So the breakthrough of implementation of real-time signal processing on general purpose platform is a worthy thesis with great market value.Based on GPP, this thesis combines the WLAN and software radio technology, and creates a signal process system of802.11n, one of the most popular version of WLAN. Considering the capability of GPP, this thesis picks the HT mode (LDPC,20MHz bandwidth, SISO, BPSK\QPSK\16-QAM\64-QAM modulations) as the research basis. In order to overcome the speed limit, this thesis uses SIMD and LUT as the main methods of optimization. Several algorithms are developed by using these two methods, which greatly improve the performance of802.11n’s PHY processing. All of these efforts accomplish an802.11n PHY platform, which reaches the real-time processing requirement on a personal laptop.This thesis firstly studies802.11n’s PHY layer, including function, structure, and signal frame structure. The PHY function provides the definition of this system’s modules, and the frame structure suggests program’s data structure design. The PHY layer is divided into two parts, Tx processing and Rx processing. From both parts, this thesis selects8modules as the key technologies of optimization, which consist this thesis’s original research achievements.From the test results of each module and the whole system, this thesis’s optimization methods turn out to be perfect for the performance and make the802.11n PHY processing successfully run on GPP. As the improvement of GPP’s capability and users’increasing demands for wireless communication, this802.11n software radio has huge potential, which makes this thesis’s research very useful.
