Ad Hoc network is facing some serious challenges because of having no centralized administration and fixed network infrastructure. At the same time, the hardware conditions of virus spreading are satisfied with the improvement of hardware configuration of intelligent terminal. Traditional models of computer virus spreading cannot be applied to Ad Hoc network because of ignoring dynamic topology of network. The classic virus spreading models are applied to Ad Hoc network to study virus spreading characteristics and prevention-cure strategies.First, a comprehensive description about Ad Hoc network is provided. Based on that, the research status about virus spreading in Ad Hoc network is analyzed. After that, classic virus spreading models and common virus defending strategies are studied. All these lead this article to a right direction.Second, static model is inappropriate for modeling virus spreading in Ad Hoc network. The failure of the static model is largely due to its strict reliance on the average connectivity and has no conception of node speed. After that, virus spreading behaviors are studied separately in Ad Hoc network based on RWP model. Especially, when contact duration of virus is introduced, virus spreading speed increases first and then decreases with the increase of node speed instead of continuing to increase. And a special node speed that can lead network to appear the fastest-spreading virus phenomenon is found. The special speed is approximately equal to the ratio of communication radius of node to contact duration of virus. Distribution density of node and the number of initial infected nodes almost do not affect the special speed. In addition, trapezoidal increasing trend is analyzed in Ad Hoc network based on Reference Point Group Mobility Model.At last, prevention-cure strategies of virus are explored from different aspects, such as MAC mechanism, transmit power, node speed, pre-immunization strategy and so on, according to preceding research and virus spreading characteristics in Ad Hoc network.This work is very essential for understanding virus spreading behaviors and mastering control strategies.
