3D reconstruction for objects includes two sides, one is geometry reconstruction and another is texture reconstruction. There are varied means for the former and the current means of development is relatively mature. Comparing with the geometry reconstruction, the texture reconstruction from photos is still under developing. The existing 3D scanner is usually integrated with image sensor, which can directly generate the texture image, but the resolution of texture images is usually low, and there are some problems, such as highlights, shadows and shadings directly affect the effect of 3D reconstruction. With SLR photos, geometric model and low resolution texture image as the input data, this paper proposed a texture reconstruction method based on multiple photos.The main contributions are as follows:1. To solve the problem of mapping photos to texture, this paper proposed a new texture mapping method based on location texture-a kind of texture image with coordinate position information is generated by a special encoding method. Use this texture image; we can establish a direct correspondence between the pixel of the image and the pixel of the texture. After photos registered with the model, we can directly generate texture image, omit some steps, such as the texture clipping and packing, and simplify the process of the texture generation.2. In order to eliminate the harmful effects of highlights and shadings in texture, this paper proposed a method to obtain the intrinsic texture based on the flash image. Firstly, use a flash light as the only effective light source, and flash position has been calibrated. Then, use the color correction card to correct the color of photos. Finally, use the location texture to establish simultaneous equations to solve the diffuse component.3. In order to eliminate the seam, this paper proposed an improved texture blending method based on hybrid weight of the pixels, which makes a good result in seamless mosaicing of image-based texture generation.In summary, this paper studies the problem of texture reconstruction, and proposes a new texture reconstruction method based on location mapping. Experimental results show that, the method has the advantages of simple operation, easy to use, and has a high accuracy and robustness. Texture reconstruction quality in resolution, color reduction and consistency is obviously superior to the original texture.
