With the increasingly complicated scenario of clinical testing, medical staff and patients’demands for more rapid and more flexible detection technology is also increasing. Due to its non-portable property, conventional clinical laboratories are powerless in the disaster rescue. And the horrible environment would do harm to the devices in turn. However, small hand-held testing devices could provide immediate detect result and help the medical staff in the scene of disaster to save more victims. On the other hand, patients with diabetes and other chronic diseases require long-term physiological states monitoring. It would place greater burdens to both hospital and patients themselves to do that everyday testing in hospital. Small and hand-held testing devices provide some easy operations to finish the testing by patients or their family at home, which brings benefit to patients and hospital. In this paper, integration of two technologies for preparing sensitive electrode on polypropylene-based substrate are studied. One preparing technology is for conductive polymer as solid-contact based all-solid-state ion selective electrode(ISE) and the other is for the second generation enzyme electrode using small molecule compounds as the electron media. The integrated test chip consists a polypropylene-based substrate, screen-printed carbon paste electrodes, microfluidic channels and hydrophilic film. It provides the capability to measure multiple parameters simultaneously. Owe to the microfluidic channels and hydrophilic film, the integrated test chip request only one-time sample injection to deliver the test solution to all electrodes. A potassium ion selective electrode and a glucose enzyme electrode were chosen to verify the availability with these two kind of preparation technology. Based on the above, the structure of the integrated test chip were optimized for a step-by-step process and then two kind of all-solid-state ISE and two kind of enzyme electrode were integrated onto the chip. At last, the 4-parameter test chip were experimented to test its analytical performance.
