Because of the influence of the structure and working mechanism of the common microwave tube, the research on the millimeter wave sub millimeter wave band was largely restricted. The gyrotron, which is based on the theory of Electron Cyclotron Resonance Master, fills a very important gap on the source region of the electromagnetic spectrum. It is far more than the ordinary microwave tube in the working frequency and the output power. The gyrotron shows a strong competitiveness and broad application prospects in millimeter and sub millimeter wave science. Millimeter wave systems are smaller and easier to integrate than ordinary microwave systems, so it has played an important role in the military field. As a result, more and more investment in the research of the roundabout has become more and more international. A number of research institutes in China have been tracking research, including the University of Electronic Science and CETC 12, they are to study the gyrotron, and reached the advanced level at home and abroad. Since the electronic optical system is an important part of the gyro, the research on it is also one of the keys to the research of the cyclotron. This paper focuses on the research of electronic optical system, then do the simulation and analysis with particle simulation software, finally several valuable conclusions are drown.The main work of this paper has the following parts:1. Based on the theory of electromagnetic field and electron optics, discussed the theoretical basis and calculation method of electron optics.2. The basic principle of the magnetron injection gun(MIG) is described in detail. Then have a elaborated discussion of the design idea, the initial design method and the optimization method of MIG. Finally the electron gun system was analyzed in detail.3. The collector system of the gyrotron is studied, and the basic working principle is described. And the effect of magnetic field on the collection of pole is analyzed, and the method of optimizing the dispersion is discussed.4. Then the electron beam is analyzed combined with EGUN, Magic and CST three electromagnetic simulation softwares. Two electronic optical systems are designed for W band and D band. The performance of the electron beam and the dispersion in the collector is good enough for the gyrotrons. Then we analyze how the electromagnetic field distribution and electron gun structure affect the velocity ratio and velocity spread.
