Pallet transport is a new developing technique of cigarette logistics in recent years which can reduce the cost of logistics and management in industrial processes and business processes effectively with the large-scale pallet using in cigarette production line. Due to collision, drop, or overload cargo in the process of transport, the pallets are easily damaged. The breakage detection and sorting recycling should be implemented frequently which can lead the pallet achieve sustainable requirements.This paper selects the programmable logic controller (PLC), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), edge detection algorithm as the research objective. According to business needs and the layout of the production process, combined with the existing technology, PLC as the core of automation control system is designed. By analysis of hardware control scheme design, integrating with the estimation method to determine the PLC model, the statistical distribution of PLC hardware and input\output address, draw out electrical control schematics. By Research, the system hardware configuration, programming and writing, and program simulating software by PLCSIM is completed. By studying of the edge detection algorithm based on Sobel shape detection of algorithm optimization system, improve the inspection speed and shape of the detection accuracy. By the designation of Siemens configuration software WinCC, read or write data to the PLC controller easily. Real-time image monitoring screen, which help process control system to be monitored, improve the security of the system operation.Siemens PLC controller will combine electronic tags’reading, writing, shape detection technologies together, hardware and software modules are combined for design; the system can read, write the electronic tags of pallet and detect the pallet shape at the same time; complete the pallet breakage detection, sorting and recycling. Master station of controlling system is made of integrated PROFINET interface CPU, which is open and conducive to the upgrade and expansion of the system. Simple and reliable communication and rapid data transmission ensured the timeliness and accuracy of control. The system has advantages, such as:high detection frequency, high precision, high degree of automation, modular design, high integration, so it has a certain economic value.
