In the field of sports, athletes should guarantee a certain amount of exercise while still ensuring their body in the best condition. According to the traditional training methods, the subjective judgment is the only standard to measure their motion, which can easily lead to negative results, such as lack of exercise or fail to exercise caused by inappropriate quantity of motion. Traditional smart devices is limited only by using basic parameters, such as walking steps, height and weight, to estimate physical activity energy expenditure(PAEE),which cause great error. In this paper, an wearable exercise load monitoring system is designed to accurately calculate the activity energy consumption by using the relationship of human motion during acceleration and motion energy, which provide reliable quantitative data for athletes to improve the training quality of athletes.In this paper, based on MEMS sensors, low-power Bluetooth and multiple techniques,an exercise load monitoring system is designed with a light weight and easy to carry. The motion acceleration changes during exercise are analyzed in this paper, and the appropriate choice of small, low-power MEMS sensors is used to obtain information on human movement. According to the laws of human motion, we designed a suitable step detection method which use the FPGA to process acceleration signal in order to get a preciser data of user motion step counts. In this paper we analyze the relationship between human movement and physical activity energy expenditure. By using of human motion acceleration characteristic quantity in the time-domain integral, we accurately calculate energy consumption with various kinds of sports and resolve the estimation error of traditional energy smart devices. The sports results will be uploaded to the Android smart terminals vie Bluetooth 4.0. The development of exercise load monitoring software is based on Android intelligent terminal, which will record the athletes’ information, movement steps and energy expenditure and display the results of movement.Based on the tests and comparison with the traditional smart device, this system can achieve a correct step counting while improving the accuracy of calculation in the energy consumption which will make a better understanding of the physical state of the athletesthemselves during exercise and the purpose of scientific training. The system has a good social significance and market value.
