Due to the good characteristics such as secrecy, anti-interception and anti-interference, VHF spread spectrum communication has been widely used in military and civil fields. With the increasing demand for communication quality, the complexity of the communication system is significantly improved, as well the time and cost of the system’s research, design and analysis. As a prospective subject, the technology of system modeling and simulation tries to describe the complex communication system in the form of the model, and analyses the feasibility and scientific of the system by means of simulation to achieve the purpose of saving time and cost. Combining with the practical application background, this paper expands in-depth study and research for VHF spread spectrum communication system in the field of system modeling and simulation, mainly consisting of the following three parts:The first part does the integrated and modular analysis of VHF spread spectrum communication system, and discusses the working principle and process of communication of every link and module. On this basis, according to the divided logic level of the system modeling and simulation technology, the paper establishes models for each module of the communication system including theoretical model, simulation model and performance evaluation model that form a relatively perfect theory system and model base.In the second part, the paper mainly researches the propagation characteristics of the wireless channel. In addition, it analyses and establishes the propagation loss model and system bit error rate calculation model of signal under different modes of communication and different transmission environment. Then combining with engineering test data, the paper improves part of the models and puts forward the corresponding correction models. What’s more, this part further researches the channel equalization technology. By the mean of algorithm simulation, it analyses and establishes common channel equalization models. Besides, the paper presents the model of better performance.Combining the theoretical research results and the practical application, the third part researches and puts forward the method of airborne VHF communication system operational effectiveness evaluation which based on operational effectiveness modelingwith the background of airborne VHF communication system operational effectiveness evaluation, establishing the effectiveness evaluation model. The evaluation result directly shows operational indicators during the working process of airborne VHF communication system, and has certain guiding significance and reference value for the practical engineering application. At last, the paper further designs the computer simulation model of effectiveness evaluation model, and develops corresponding airborne VHF communication system effectiveness evaluation simulation software based on C++.
