With the development of technology and society, the concept of smart home gradually step into people’s lives. As an important part of smart home, lighting control links with people’s daily lives closely. How to improve people’s lives and save energy, has become the focus of attention for increasing energy issues; As an emerging wireless communication technology, ZigBee technology with its low power consumption, low cost, ad hoc networks, etc. has becoming the best solution for smart home indoor communication.This paper studies the utilization of ZigBee,which can overcome issues of cabling and stable cover when used in smart home system. At the same time, proposes a fuzzy control algorithm based on lighting illuminance, which set indoor illumination target based on the user’s indoor activities. The fuzzy controller uses the deviation and deviation change rate between target illumination and indoor illumination as input, then through fuzzy inference and reconciliation,the result will be used to adjust the brightness of lights and curtains’ open status, to achieve the purpose of saving energy.This paper mainly includes:(1) Building a lighting control system consists of system host, light intensity detection node, lighting control node and curtain control node.Then design the hardware and software of these parts.(2) Light intensity detection node detects the light intensity values, fuzzy control process the values, and then finally lighting and curtain control node.(3) Design a communication protocol which is simple and efficient, be able to meet the actual needs of the smart home control system.The actual tests of prototype show that: based on ZigBee mesh network technology, when the numbers of end nodes is large than 5, within 25 meters, communication receive packet rate can reach more than 99%; based on fuzzy control strategy, for a 200 W incandescent bulb, energy saving ratio is up to 24.3%.From the experimental results we can see, the system can effectively saves lamp power consumption, and has strong communication stability.
