Moving object detection and tracking fuses pattern recognize technology and computer vision. It is the most fundamental, core, and widely used topic in the intelligent video surveillance system. With the development of technology and society, to overcome the inherent defects in single camera that has difficulty in tracking target in a large scale or from multiple angles due to the limitation of visual angle, multi-camera video surveillance system has gradually become a hot topic in computer vision.To achieve a balance between the wide range of real-time monitoring and the specific target active tracking, this paper analyzes and designs a moving target detection and active tracking system with dual field. System collects and analyzes the video image information captured by the fixed wild field camera, to detect and lock the moving target; Then combines the result of camera calibration, according to the algorithm of objects hand-off between the two fields, to calculate the corresponding coordinate position of the target in the narrow field PTZ camera; After initializes the tracking target, PTZ camera utilizes kalman filter and mean shift algorithm to track the target actively, by controlling PTZ to ensure the target is always in the center of the image plane, until the target moves out of the field of camera.To construct the system, this paper has completed the following work:1、Research on camera calibration technology. Complete the camera calibration of the fixed camera and moving PTZ camera, combine with the angle of movement to re-evaluate the camera extrinsic parameters after the rotation of the camera.2、Research on moving target detection and tracking technology. The fixed wild field camera uses the improved background subtraction method based on Gaussian mixture model to detect and lock the moving targets; The moving narrow field PTZ camera applies a combination of kalman filter and mean shift algorithm to do target active tracking, balance the tracking accuracy and real-time performance.3、Research on active tracking technology. Derives the calculation method of PTZ control parameters, obtains the angles that PTZ camera needs to move in both horizontal direction and vertical direction during active tracking process.4、Research on the multi-camera video surveillance system. Uses approximate camera projection model, proposes a new algorithm of objects hand-off between the two fields based on the camera calibration.5、An experiment is performed to verify the accuracy and reliability of the system.
