Power Control is a crucial technology in mobile communication system,its aim is to adjust the uplink and downlink transmission power to the lowest limit which ensure the QoS, at the same time,it could limit the MS battery consumption to a minimum range.Besides, Power Control technology can also reduce multiple access interference and improve the system capacity. So, it is crucial important to study the power control technology and it is helpful to have a good grasp of Power Control technology and FPGA development skills.The basic theory of this thesis is Power Control technology in mobile communication system, after detailed studying the classification and implementation method of 2G、3G and 4G mobile communication system,we given the realization of programs to WCDMA reverse link power control.This design include mobile station sending module、radio channel module and BS receiving module,and simplified the ratio channel in order to implement the function of power control,the channel just include noise and low-frequency interference. Based on the design schemes, the author completed the design of WCDMA reverse link open loop and close loop power control system at Register Transfer Level (RTL) and FPGA realization. There are baseband data module, QPSK modulation module, noise and interference module, power detection module, automatic gain control module and power amplify module in the open loop power control system and modulation module, noise and interference module, TPC(power control command) generation module, demodulation module, TPC command detection module and automatic gain control module in close loop power control system.Which focused on the design of the QPSK modulation and demodulation method, open loop power control algorithm and close loop power control algorithm. In the Xilinx ISE 10.1 development environment, given the detailed design for each module using verilog HDL, synthesis each module using Synplify Pro tools, and given the RTL circuit diagram, using Modelsim 6.5a to simulate each module and system. The part of the system is downloaded and simulated by the hardware development platform of spartan3E based on the simulation of success, and the simulation results and test result are also analyzed.The simulation show that all that software simulation of each module and and hardware test result of part design are correct, power control basic functions can be achieved. The design requirement of WCDMA reverse link power control is basically meted.
