Coal production plays an important role in the activities of China’s industrial economy. The whole society and government take coal mine safety production seriously makes the demand in the actual mine production for accurate location system of the under mine personnel more and more high, and then accurate location becomes the trend of under mine personnel location system. The personnel location system involves the process and preservation of location data, however accurate location makes the data of location increased rapidly relative to the non-accurate location, and then the process of location data becomes the bottleneck of the system. The moving objects database (MOD) dedicates to the representation and storage for moving object data and provide query support. The location data of under mine personnel accurate location system accord with MOD’s data requirement, makes using techniques in MOD to under mine personnel accurate location become possible.Through the research of MOD location update technology, combined with the characteristics of data in under mine personnel accurate location system, this article presents a new location update algorithm for under mine personnel accurate location system, named as distance-based/dead-reckoning combined update algorithm. Also the article gives solutions to the server side location deciding problem and the interpolation out of bound problem in the distance-based/dead-reckoning combined update algorithm. Distance-based/dead-reckoning combined update algorithm can avoid the frequently location update problem of distance-based update algorithm when personnel move with high speed, can also avoid the predicted locations easily become invalid problem of dead-reckoning update algorithm when personnel move with low speed and highly velocity direction change possibility. Base on distance-based/dead-reckoning combined update algorithm, this article provides a prototype of location information process part in under mine personnel accurate location system, with design and implementation. To validate the effect of distance-based/dead-reckoning combined update algorithm, based on the movement pattern of under mine personnel, this article sets several generating rules while implement a personnel location data simulator. The simulated data testify that the distance-based/dead-reckoning combined update algorithm is effective for under mine personnel accurate location.At the ending part,the article discusses the personnel off-line problem, then gives a solution for it. Afterwards the article discusses how to develop the prototype in the article to a fully functional under mine personnel accurate location system. At last the article discusses the application of other MOD techniques in under mine personnel accurate location system.
