In recent years, with the development of science and technology, binocular stereo vision technology has attracted much attention in industrial measurement. Due to it’s advantages such as simple operation, non-contact, high accuracy, fast, low equipment cost, it is widely used in industrial, aerospace, medical and transportation and other fields. In this paper, based on computer vision theory combined with practical, in view of the present existing mechanical problems that automobile connector pins quality measurement, we put forward a multiple target relative measurement method based on binocular stereo vision, and design and validate in detail to the key modules for detection.This article uses the binocular stereo vision to measure 3D coordinate parameters of workpiece pins, by comparing between work pieces of shape parameters and standard parameters of the workpiece, so as to determine whether the quality under test meet th e requirements. In this paper, the main work includes:Firstly, we study the binocular measurement system involved in the camera model, the principle of binocular stereo vision measurement, camera stereo calibration and relevant basic theories, and set up a binocular stereo vision hardware system.Secondly, in view of the detection task in this topic, we design unique scheme such as feature extraction and multiple target matching, 3D coordinate calculation. Considering the workpiece inclination, using Hough transform to detect the angle of inclination, and correct image. In order to improve the detection speed, according to the characteristics of workpiece, this paper uses the pin region locating method based on gray template matching and accurately identifies pin shape based on connected component analysis and area constraint method.Thirdly, in the phase of stereo matching, firs of all, we use a calculation contour centroid coordinates, then number according to the pins contour centroid position, finally match the left and right images in sequence.Finally, this paper designs the connector pin relative measurement principle based on all sorts of quality problems such as the pin inclination, the lack of pin, short pin and so on, realizes a full set of simulation software system that binocular stereo vision in the application of the full pins detecting, and does a large amount of relative measurement experiment, the experimental results show that the binocular stereo vision measurement system can be applied to pin point quality detection problem, at the same time which has high efficiency and low cost.
