With the rising of living standards, the demand for car increases, specifically, the numbers of private cars also soar up. However, the techniques used by the thieves also advanced with the rapid development of modern electronic technology. Although the traditional mechanical and electronic security devices may function, the car theft also happens sometimes. Once a car was stolen, it’s difficult to found for the reason that the owner of the car can’t provide effective information to describe the characteristics of their car. While with the current electronic technology, the face recognition system can be applied to the electronic system of the vehicles.Based on the MOST on-board network, the author designs a owner-face recognition alarm system, which uses the MOST network technology, face recognition technology and 3G communication technology. This system can compare the current driver’s facial image with the that of the owner. If system recognizes that the driver is not the owner, it will be send the current driver’s facial image information to the PC of the owner through the 3G communication module, a process which can warn the car owner as well as provide judicial evidence.MOST technology(Media Oriented System Transport) is specially used in the transmission of multimedia entertainment information via on-board network technology. Since 1998, its development has advanced from MOST25, MOST50 to MOST150. Compared with other car bus technology, MOST has a higher transmission rate and stronger anti-jamming ability and it works immediately after it is plugged. Facial recognition technology plays an important role among the various biological recognition technologies. From its birth in the mid 20 th century til now, this technology has already entered its mature stage, during which its advantages assert themselves, namely, the easiness to install the identifying equipment, the low cost, the automation and the security accounting for privacy. Based on the above technical characteristics, this paper aims to design and add owners face recognition in the MOST Network. The first two chapters of the thesis mainly introduce the development of the MOST and facial recognition technology, and liberate technical principles of the MOST such as the topology structure, system structure, frame agreement and network services etc. Also, the facial recognition technology and 3G transmission technology are described from the perspectives of the process and the algorithm. In this thesis, the main body is the part from chapter three to chapter five, which, at the very beginning, summarizes the overall design of the system and the main structure, the owner facial recognition node as well as the overall design process of the hardware and software. Secondly, in terms of hardware, all these have been achieved, including the physical network interface of the MOST, the power of the intelligent network interface controller, and main control module of each node. Finally, in the aspect of software, the configuration of the network services of the MOST is completed. Also, the communication configuration has been established between the physical network interface controller and the main control chip module, setting the embedded system for the execution of the program and creating the facial recognition and 3G transmission procedures.Chapter 6 describes the process of debug and validation, in which the application is debugged in the aspects of the main control nodes and the facial recognition of the owner, with the aim to test the loop network communication situation of the MOST. According to the requirements of the system, the experiment functions well verifying the feasibility of this system.
