According to different slow wave structure, the traveling wave tube can be divided into the helix traveling wave tube and the coupled cavity traveling wave tube. Helix traveling wave tube has a series of advantages, such as wide band, high efficiency and light weight, etc., has been favored by all kinds of electronic systems. The millimeter wave helix traveling wave tube with wide bandwidth, high efficiency and small volume features, can be a lot of using synthetic power, has become the preferred choice of millimeter wave phased array radar devices.In this paper, the design, fabrication and test platform of the millimeter wave helix traveling wave tube are studied. The electronic optical system, dispersion and coupling impedance simulation and on-line measurement of the wave, dispersion and coupling impedance are studied. On the basis of theoretical analysis, the CAD software is used to carry out the simulation calculation, and the method to solve the problem is solved by the method of testing. We find a solution to the problem, and ultimately manufacture in line with the index requirement of millimeter wave helix TWT.The research work and innovation points of this paper are as follows:1. By using MTSS, TAU, CST, MAXWELL, ANSYS software to design and optimize components, such as the electron gun, beam wave interaction, transmission system, magnet system and collector, we finally get to meet the index requirements of tube scheme.2. We analyze the role of helix jump technique in theory, by using MTSS to simulate the influence of size of attenuation, distance setting, jump way and attenuator location on output power.3. After design, we use online measuring technique for on-line measurement of dispersion and coupling impedance, try to find out whether dispersion and coupling impedance is consistent with design. Through repeated design, test and verify, we can finish the design of slow wave system in the circumstances without installing tube.4. The study of the phase consistency measurement and compensation technology of millimeter wave traveling wave tube, and complete the test.5. Through the paper, I combined with the actual work situation, summed up a littlework experience.
