Fully polarimetric synthetic aperture radar has unique all-weather observation characteristics, and can use its own advantages to get extremely rich polarization information. It is an ideal tool for offshore oil spill observation. In the last few years, there are a lot of good radar equipment, such as ASAR ALOS, PALSAR ENVISAT, Radarsat-2, etc.. They have a high resolution, rich multi polarization information, access to the SAR data of different bands, the use of synthetic aperture radar to observe the situation of offshore oil spill is also popular. There are more and more scholars were paid attention to a variety of properties of the oil spill, such as the use of single polarization characteristics of oil in spill edge detection,According to the different polarization characteristics of two extraction corresponding spill oil characteristics, facilitate the recycling of oil spill. spill on sea change the speed and depth by the influence of the sea wind, temperature, ocean wave, in general, the overflow oil region of area is large, so we need to adopt a more fine and more suitable method for large area spilled oil recover. This article is finished for studying the large area of spill oil characteristics, using a suitable boundary tracking method, Using fully polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data complete the spill oil boundary recognition. The main research work and results are outlined below:Firstly, the extraction and analysis of the polarization characteristics of oil spill at sea. First,the polarization data of the sea overflow oil is decomposed, and it has a large number of single polarization data characteristic, then find polarization characteristics application by boundary tracing experiment according to the adaptability analysisthese of single polarization characteristics.Secondly, the study of boundary tracking algorithm. First, we choose the method of searching the ladder type diffusion for the characteristics of the large area of the oil spill area,, which is the emphasis of this paper. And the single feature data were tracked.Thirdly, boundary tracing after multiple feature combination. This paper extract the features of adaptive single polarization based on the normalization method. A multi feature combination method is proposed to track the oil spill boundary.Finally, the experimental results of two groups of PolSAR data. The results show that the proposed algorithm is used in the proposed method, and the results are very good.
