A Tobacco Company’s Data Center System Design

In recent years, with the rapid development of computer technology and network technology which applicate in various industries, the speed of data services growth has been faster than any others in the past decades. These data are messy, fragmented and in large amounts. It is very difficult to extract useful information from this data in normal method. With the development of database technology, data center technology emerges. This make it possible fetching useful information from huge quantity of data to some extent.There have been marketing, finance, production and inventory management system in many tobacco companies. These business management systems are relatively independent, and data standards are not relatively uniform. It is difficult to share data information among business systems, resulting in duplication of database construction and different standards as well as low productivity. The utilization of data is also needed to be improved. The data analysis function is limited to some simple analysis which can’t provide comprehensive data analysis for business decisions. In order to enhance market competitiveness for a tobacco companies, it is necessary to integrate the business management system and develop uniform data standards. Therefore, data can be shared between different business systems and corresponding data analysis can be provided for the management of the company for decision-making purposes. To achieve this goal, data center must be established for a tobacco company.At first, this paper briefly introduces the research background and significance based on a tobacco company, and describes the enterprise data model, operational storage, enterprise data warehousing and OLAP and ETL technology. And then the target and the principle of data construction of the Tobacco Company are located. The demands of data center are discussed in detail. In addition, the overall architecture, data architecture and application architecture are analyzed. In the system design of the data center, the business functions of the system, information resource standard and enterprise data warehouse are designed. The ER diagram is used to analyze the entity, and the data model is used to model data cube model. Finally it elaborates applications functions of the tobacco company data centers, such as basic data analysis, cigarette sales and marketing analysis, inventory analysis and inner tubes monopoly.This study is conducive to the public reconstruction of tobacco enterprises data environment. It helps achieve integration, sharing of data flow of information channels, and provide decision support for company.
