Nowadays, the wireless local area network has been developed rapidly and used widely in all walks of life. The standards of IEEE 802.11 are mainly used by wireless LAN, and IEEE is defined as Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. However, since the definition mode of service priority provided by IEEE 802.11 protocol and the resources limitation of wireless network, the WLAN can’t provide better quality for voice, video and other services.Therefore IEEE published an enhanced standard of IEEE 802.11 named IEEE 802. lle. Some of the functions were extracted from IEEE 802.11e to create a protocol named WMM. The WMM protocol has provided basic solutions of QoS, ensuring the better quality of voice and video services in wireless network.Based on the premise of the above background and purpose, the wireless services were divided into four priorities according to the specific provisions of WMM protocol, and the voice and video services were given high priority to improve the ability to preempt the channel. Finally, the quality of voice and video services can be improved. The thesis describe the project implemented the WMM protocol, while the focus of this paper is on the analysis and design of command-line sub-module of EDCA and management frame sub-module. EDCA command-line contains many EDCA parameters to describe the ability of channel preemption. And the command-line sub-module of EDCA includes the registration, the configuration, the parsing and the processing of the command-line of EDCA parameters for different priorities. Management frame sub-module mainly involves Action management frame, which can be divided into Add TS frame and Del TS frame. Stations use Add TS request frame to negotiate parameters when they need to request the high-quality of voice or video services, while Stations use Del TS request frame to delete the TS that previously requested, but no longer need to use.Firstly, the basic concepts, related technologies and development history ofWLAN are described in the thesis. Then it points out the quality issues of the voice, video and other services in the wireless network. Besides, the solution is put forward to improve the quality of voice and video services, after detailed introducing the standard of IEEE 802.11 and the protocol of WMM. What’s more, the thesis focuses on comprehensive analysis of demand and design for the command-line sub-module of EDCA and management frame sub-module. Then the function, overall architecture and related structure of data frames of the two sub-modules are presented emphasizedly. Finally, this project summarizes and puts forward the future improvement direction and prospect.
