From the beginning of the 80’s, the rapid development of mobile communication technology in the world has been developed to LTE technology. The appearance of LTE Technology has put forward new requirements for mobile communication system. For the base station antenna, technical research field strives for integrate LTE technology to achieve a new generation of ultra-wideband multi-frequency base station antenna under the original multi-frequency compatibility. Meanwhile, the advocacy of a resource-saving society, to save the construction cost and achieving good coverage of mobile communication network require base station antenna to be the miniaturization, lightweight and high efficiency. Thus, this paper seeks to research and design the ultra-wideband multi-frequency base station antenna with lightweight structure and high performance, which has a significant and positive significance to the development of mobile communication field.This paper introduces the history of the development of mobile communication technology firstly and the current situation of the development of ultra-wideband base station antenna so that establish the discussion of the base station antenna performance index. Then according to the basic theory of base station antenna and the required parameters, this paper determine the array arrangement of array antenna, boundary conditions and the structure of feed network. Then through the simulation software, it optimizes performance index of antenna array and the feed network to obtain the target index requirements and realize the base station antenna based on simulation model. Finally through measuring instruments, it verifies the performance index of ultra-wideband multi-frequency base station antenna meet the requirements.The prototype of ultra-wideband multi-frequency base station antenna measurement data show that it has a good performance of circuit parameter indexes and the radiation parameters of the indexes in the equilibrium has a better performance expression at 698MHz-960 MHz and 1710MHz-2690 MHz. Antenna array achieve miniaturization in 1330mm*380mm* 90 mm antenna radome side by side. On the whole, it meets the design requirements, can be widely applied to various mobile communication system and has an excellent engineering application value.
